This resolution aims at providing piped quality drinking water to every single household of rural and urban areas of the State. This is being implemented by Panchayati Raj and Public Health Engineering Departments in rural areas and by Urban Development and Housing Department in urban areas. Under this, schemes have been formulated to provide piped water supply to every household with a view to end their dependence on Hand-pumps (chapakal) and other sources of drinking water.

In the financial year 2018-2019, against a cumulative target to provide potable (safe drinking) water facilities to 21,858 wards and 36.33 lakh quality affected households, work is under progress in 5506 quality affected rural wards and has been completed in 929 rural wards, while 1.56 lakh households have been provided with potable (safe drinking) water facilities, as of now.
